Hello, Uncle Hal & Aunt Marie!!!

Well, you are getting the first email about the reunion. As you have probably noticed, I am a horrible emailer, since I sit at a computer most of the day at work. By the time I get home, I do NOT want to sit in front of my own computer. But this is for a really fun purpose, so here goes!

We are scheduled for our Harris Family Reunion at Lake Murray Resort in Ardmore, OK, from Sunday, 6/17/07, to Tuesday, 6/19/07. This is as close as we could get to Father’s Day weekend. The lake is very popular for reunions, and every weekend of the summer is booked. Each family has the first chance to rebook for the following summer at the end of their stay, and apparently they always do. They had absolutely no weekends available. The good news is that it should not be as crowded when we are there, I hope. Check-in is 6pm on Sunday. Check-out is 12 noon on Tuesday. If anyone wants to extend their stay, call early to make your request. I am not sure what the policy is.

You can go to their website: www.OklahomaResort.com, to get information on Lake Murray. The lady who handles group reservations is Marsha Jackson; her phone number is 800-257-0322. If you can see a map of the area on-line, we have reserved the cabins on Cedar “street.” They can accommodate various numbers of people so some of us can share cabins and cost. They do have hook-ups for trailers/RVs, but if anyone is interested, they need to specifically ask Marsha about that.

Our cabins include:

8-person cabin: carpet, full kitchen, 2-3 bedrooms, 2-3 bathrooms, living area with sofa sleeper, fireplace and picnic table with grill. $185

10-person cabin: carpet, full kitchen, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, living area with queen murphy bed or sofa sleeper, fireplace, large patio with grill. $225

6-person cabin: one or two bedrooms, full kitchen, living area with sofa sleeper, bathroom, fireplace and picnic table with grill. $135

Small villas: sleeps 4 people, carpet, one bedroom, living area with queen murphy bed, bathroom, no kitchen, microwave, small refrigerator, grill. $88

There are one each of the larger cabins, and seven small villas available. “Maid service” is limited to fresh towels and trash removal. Each family is responsible for calling Marsha to make their reservation. You can choose your cabin at that time. Deposits = one night’s rent, and are due 14 days after making your reservation. Each family also sends their deposit directly to Marsha. If anyone ends up needing a refund, I think you can have it in full if it is 60 days prior to our reservation. Please clarify this when you call her.

These are the basics. I am working on our activities and schedule, but we will also have plenty of free time just to visit and catch up. On the website they will show you all of the things they have available to do there. It is a really a perfect place for us! There will be a very minimal activity fee after I get our schedule worked out. Don’t worry Aunt Marie, nobody will have to plan or cook any big meals! They have a restaurant in the Lodge that is pretty good and has reasonable prices, and we can eat in our cabins on our own sometimes. I will probably at least schedule to have one meal for us all together at some point….I will let you know!

Don’t forget you can also call Marsha with any questions. She is very nice. Let me know what you think. I spoke with a few of the cousins and this seems to be the best choice. Hopefully it will become a yearly event!
